Happy haPPY mERRY Ding

Hello all!

town square of where I reside

Tis the season to be Jolly :) I hope you all are well and that the holiday season isn't stressing you out. I know finals are either drawing to a close or done for some people while others are wondering what to get the loved ones in their lives.

I'm right there in that boat with you all. My first term in the UK is officially over and now I'm in the prep stages to go home to FL for Christmas. I can't wait!

I love me some Christmas.. celebrating the birth of Christ with loved ones all around is just wonderful & with all the commercialism of the holiday, one can lose sight of what it's about. In one of my devotionals, it speaks on the gifts we can give this holiday and not necessarily ones that speak financial volumes.

So drawing from that, I thought I would put together some ideas for gifts that is easy on the pocket but means so much.
Ideas after the jump

1. DIY Net Bag - (honestlywtf.com)

DIY is a great way to go for holiday gifts because it adds a personal touch to the gift. I liked this bag as it can be used as a shopping bag or just a casual throw ya junk in bit. Well it is see through so not everything would be appropriate for it. Looks perfect for Spring/Summer.

Here is the link to how to achieve this bag HERE

2. Homemade Coffee Body Scrub.

I made myself this scrub some months back because I love to exfoliate and I was very self conscious about the cellulite that appeared on my thighs & was looking for some sort of "fix". It didn't get rid of it but my skin felt smooth and soft.

-1 cup of instant coffee
- olive 0il ... not sure how much of it. I would say enough where it isn't an oily mess but enough where the coffee kinda sticks together.
-couple drops of an essential oil (vanilla, rosemary, peppermint..etc) Your choice really to bring on a scent.

Mix all the ingredients together & viola! Sorry I have no pics but yeah. Putting it all together in a cute jar would be nice with a ribbon and/or label.

3. Homemade Cocoa Mix

Nothing like a hot cup o' cocoa on a wintry night with the fire going & Mariah Carey's angelic voice in the background.. or tropical climate with the Christmas breeze blowin'.. where ever you are in the world Hot Cocoa is one of THE drinks for the holidays. Nice way of saying Merry Christmas like a homemade hot cocoa mix.
You can package it in a clear plastic bag and tie it with a ribbon. Add in a bag of marshmallows & put them both in a huge mug.

Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix

Yield: About 20 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
2 cups powdered sugar
1½ cups cocoa powder (Dutch-processed preferred, but regular okay)
1½ cups white chocolate chips (or chopped white chocolate)
¼ teaspoon salt

1. Whisk together all ingredients in a large bowl. Working in two batches, pulse the ingredients in a food processor until the chocolate is finely ground. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

2. To make hot cocoa, put 1/3 cup of the cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup of hot milk. Top with whipped cream or miniature marshmallows.

4. Coupons for Time
Slip a coupon in a Christmas card devoting your time to someone. For example (an afternoon of chick flicks & chocolate) for your BFF or for your naturalista friend (Free wash n set day) be her hairdresser for a bit! Nothing ridic.. you could offer to do all the tedious tasks we natural girls do on wash day. Time is precious and is a wonderful gift to give someone.

5. TIME
yes, it is like the above one but this gift is to yourself. A lot of people don't give themselves PT (personal time) and end up feeling all flustered and worn out. Take time to yourself.. a simple soak in the tub or a nap. You could also take your "time" and help the needy. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or with the elderly. Spark convo with that neighbour who you've never spoken to.

Hope these were helpful!
